I think work structures human relationships in a very universal way and that is why I am interested in observing the world through the lens of art as work. My artistic practice originates from trying to understand how certain social mechanisms relate to the construction of symbolic value and its circulation. More specifically, its link with desire and aspiration, where there is a permanent battle between the intimate, the insignificant, the menial, vs the collective plane of the epic deeds of exceptional individuals.
I look for the minimum and defining elements, the balance that emerges from efficiency in the use of resources. And work by series of paintings, each one advancing separately in different directions, but pushing each other forward. To be presented, finally, as pictorial installations. Thus, each painting can function on its own, but they reach their full potential when experienced as part of the system they are part of and from which they emerged. This is how my body of work grows rhizomatically, adding new nodes over the years, expanding my field of observation.
