For this occasion NVS presents paintings and drawings by
the artists Matías Ercole, Julio Hilger and Federico Lanzi.
The three series of works with their dissimilar characters
are shown in an immersive installation, through a device
that separates them from the wall. Their shadows become
an abstract pattern that marks the rhythm and arrangement
of the pieces in space, de-hierarchizing them, generating a
fragmented set that can only have a certain continuity in the
interaction with the observer. These interactions result in
ambiguous cutouts in which the contours redefine the works
by resignifying their contents and expelling them into space,
floating weightless.
Matías Ercole presents ink and wax drawings from his latest
series "Futurisms". In them he investigates the idea of light,
about what it reveals and, in its counterpart, what it hides.
Presenting her as a character who knew how to change
form and senses throughout history. The Sun, fire and
lighting, natural sources of light (and therefore shadows)
presenting their mystical and poetic power. The painting as
a screen, which emanates brilliance in an analog way.
Julio Hilger presents a series of drawings that explore the
diversity of images that circulate in everyday life through
WhatsApp, social networks and internet, all that visual
information that invades and contaminates us. The
proliferation of stickers, emojis, cute viral pets, memes, love
pictures, self-help pictures, etc. is expressed and
represented through a graphic resolved with a fast and
expressive stroke in which their own potentialities are
developed according to the passage from one genre to
another.
Federico Lanzi presents paintings made in acrylic on
plastic. Images that are the result of his research on
painting, art history, appropriation, citation and recurring
interests such as esotericism and alternative theories in
relation to possible civilizations outside the planet.
